Mr. Walter Jenkins

Mr. Walter Jenkins, age 73, of Cosby, passed away Friday morning, January 19, 2024 at Newport Health and Rehabilitation. He was a member of Caney Creek Baptist Church He was preceded in death by his mother Venie Jenkins; father-in-law and mother-in-law Rev. David Cameron, Jr. and Iva Valentine Cameron; sister Gertrude (Willie) Grooms; brother James Jenkins; sister-in-law Gona Jenkins; brothers-in-law Earl Burnett Cameron and Joe Hembree and nephews Joe Darrell Hembree, Darrell Webb and Dean Valentine. Survivors include his wife Phyllis Darlene Cameron Jenkins of the home; son Brandon C. Jenkins; sister Martha Jenkins and brother Ed Jenkins all of Cosby; sisters-in-law Carolyn (Morris) Brady of Cosby, Shirley Hembree of Newport and Betty Cameron of Cleveland, TN and brother-in-law Keith Cameron of Newport. Additional survivors include a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. The family would like to express a special thank you to Newport Premier Medical and Kim Thomas and Amedisys Home Health and Hospice for all of their kindness and care. The family will host a Celebration of Life service at 2:00 p.m. on March 2, 2024 at Stokely Chapel Church (Industrial Road), with Rev. Steve Renner officiating. Private burial was in Stokely Chapel Memorial Garden. In lieu of flowers, the family will appreciate donations to assist with the purchase of a grave marker.
